A romantic relationship is never static – it’s a dynamic interplay of conscious and unconscious processes. Many couples experience repeated conflicts, communication breakdowns, or emotional distance, without fully understanding why. The same arguments return. Tensions escalate. And at some point, the question arises: Why do we keep ending up here – again and again?
In my Berlin-based practice for couple therapy and relationship counseling, I offer a protected space to reflect on and work through relationship challenges. Instead of assigning blame or offering ready-made solutions, psychoanalytic couple therapy focuses on exploring the deeper emotional structures at play.
This includes:
uncovering unconscious desires, fears, and defense mechanisms that shape the relationship,
identifying personal histories and attachment patterns that influence both partners,
and creating room for new ways of relating, understanding, and being together.
Every couple brings a unique emotional landscape. Often, what seems like a “communication problem” is rooted in unresolved emotional dynamics from each partner’s own past.
Repeated arguments and unresolved conflicts
Communication issues, emotional disconnection, silence
Jealousy, affairs, and breaches of trust
Intimacy and sexual dissatisfaction
Parenting stress and shifts in the couple dynamic
Ambivalence about staying or separating
Whether your relationship is in a crisis, slowly drifting apart, or caught in repeating patterns – couple therapy can help clarify what’s going on beneath the surface and what each partner truly needs.
In our sessions, you’ll find a professional and non-judgmental environment to explore your relationship openly.
I work from a psychoanalytic perspective, which means we focus not only on current issues but also on what these patterns may reflect about deeper
emotional realities – individually and as a couple.
Sessions are available in English or German, in person at my practice in Berlin-Mitte or
online.
Frequency and duration are tailored to your needs.
Absolutely. Sometimes the aim is not to “fix” the relationship, but to separate consciously and respectfully – especially when children or a long shared history are involved. Psychoanalytic couple counseling can support this process, help clarify emotional entanglements, and reduce conflict.
If you're considering couples counseling or couple therapy in Berlin, feel free to reach out
for an initial session.
We’ll talk about your situation, your questions, and whether working together makes sense.
Please note: Sessions are not covered by public health insurance (GKV).
Private health insurance or self-payment is required. Appointments are usually available at short notice.
